Purple Mash

Please can I encourage you to sign up for/install Purple Mash at home. Your child can access Purple Mash from home on a laptop, desktop or a tablet. Purple Mash is a safe environment that does not require any downloading or allow interaction with people online and children cannot make any financial transactions. We will be encouraging the children to continue their learning at home and Purple Mash is a great resource for this. Your child will be taught how to use Purple Mash in school and will be able to use it without supervision, but you may want to take a few minutes to explore it yourself so that you can help them with their work. Please click on the picture link to login to Purple Mash.

Note:  You have already had your child’s username and password - please let me know if you need this again.

Home Learning

Tuesday: Reading Records
There will be a reading task posted on Google Classroom each Tuesday and will be expected in by the following Monday to allow time for marking.

Friday: Spellings from 18th September
New spellings will be given out each Friday and tested the following Friday.
Please ensure that children check these words on Google Classrooms each week.

Multiplication Tests
As you may be aware, all Year 4 children will sit a multiplications assessment in June 2021. There is a 3 week window for this assessment to be carried out starting from Monday 7th June 2021. This is an online assessment, and the children will have plenty of time to practise their skills leading up to the assessment. Further information and details will be given once it has been finalised on the Government website.

PE - Autumn Term First Half

Monday afternoon (Mrs Barlow) - Football skills

Wednesday afternoon (Miss Cuerden) - Hockey

Please make sure your child comes to school on PE days wearing their kit. You will receive a text if your child is not wearing the correct kit in school on the day of a lesson.

Snacks

In Key Stage 2, children are allowed to bring in their own fruit or vegetable snack to eat at playtime.  Snacks should be fruit or vegetables – this does not include snacks containing fruit e.g. cereal bars.  School does not provide milk but this can be purchased each half-term via arrangement with the school office.

Wider Opportunities in Music

We participate in a weekly lesson, led by Mr Haslam of The Oldham Music Centre, where we each learn to play a brass instrument. In the Summer term we will have the opportunity to play with the Halle Orchestra at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester!
