There is a well established, active and effective Parent, Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA) at St Mary’s Membership is open to all parents, legal guardians or carers of children attending school, and to the staff in school. The PTFA provides a wide range of valuable support to school. The Annual General Meeting is held at the beginning of each academic year and the committee is elected annually at this meeting. Ordinary committee meetings are held at least twice a term and these are open to all parents and staff. New parents are especially welcome. In recent years the PTFA has generously raised funds for a trim trail and stage area in the playground, bikes for Reception, thirty laptops, books for the reading scheme, polytunnel for our school garden, computers for our ICT Suite, Community Kitchen re-fit and a bike shelter. In 2011 the PTFA funded a wooden outdoor classroom and playground equipment. In 2013, the PTFA donated funds to renew the PA system in the Hall. In 2014-15, the PTFA was able to provide funds for school to refurbish the School Library in order to encourage a lifelong love of reading. The PTFA has also refurbished a dedicated room to support children with SEND or pastoral needs. Each class receives a budget of £1000.00 per year to benefit the children. The school hall has also been refurbished, thanks to our PTFA.
Money Raised by PTFA 2016-17
Last academic Year the PTFA contributed an amazing £23,635.00 to school. Each classroom was again awarded £1,000.00 each, this was used to subsidise trips, buy resources for classrooms etc. The PTFA also made a large contribution to school when it was unfortunately flooded. The contributions made by the PTFA at that time were greatly welcomed by the School.
