Sporting Success 2019-20
Our sporting achievements!
Sports Hall Athletics - March 2020
Well done to the year 5 athletics team who took part in the sports hall athletics event at Saddleworth School on 10th March. The children took part in a number of events and came 4th over all. This was an amazing achievement considering a lot of the teams were made up of year 6 children. They did a number of track and field events over the course of the afternoon. All the children did exceptionally well and we are very proud of them all. Well done!
Gymnastics - March 2020
Well done to the St Mary's Gymnastics Squad who represented school at a DLP competition recently. All pupils did exceptionally well working with other students from different schools. We even had some medal winners for best group and best individual performance. Congratulations to all pupils!

Football 12th November 2019
Huge congratulations to the year 5/6 football team on their outstanding performance in the first match of the season. They played St Thomas' Leesfield in a nail biting mini tournament.
In the first game we scored first, they quickly equalised and then they scored a further 3 goals to make it 4-1. The St Mary's boys fought hard and managed to get it back to 4-3! Unfortunately the whistle went and it ended at 4-3 to St Thomas’ Leesfield. However, it was a performance to be proud of by our team.
The second match St Mary's dominated against St Thomas' Leesfield with some amazing episodes of play. Our players linked up well and were strong. They produced some very good football. The final score was 3-0 to St Mary's. Well done to all the boys who participated and thank you for all the parental support.
Oldham Schools 'Gotta Dance' Competition - July 2019
This year our after school dance club have competed in and won the Oldham Schools 'Gotta Dance' Competition. This then meant they qualified for a place in the North West Finals. They came 4th and narrowly missed a place in the national finals as only the top 3 placed dances qualified. Under a new dance teacher and choreographer they then learned a brand new routine in only a few weeks and performed it at the Oldham Schools 'Celebration of Dance' event last Friday. On Wednesday evening they were invited to perform both routines at the Oldham 'Dance Splash' event at the Oldham Coliseum Theatre and were the only Primary School invited to dance alongside Dance Schools and Companies with dancers aged 8-18. We are incredibly proud of their achievements this year, well done!
Netball Report April - May 2019
Netball match V Denshaw Tuesday 30th April
Well done to both St Mary's Netball teams who displayed a brilliant performance against Denshaw winning both matches 7-2 and 6-3. All pupils worked extremely hard and managed to produce a confident performance with some excellent episodes of play.
Netball match V Knowsley Wednesday 1st May
All pupils who played in these matches should be so proud of their performance and sportsmanship. Both teams came up against two very strong and experienced teams who firstly were two years older than some of our team and secondly they play for Oldham Netball Club. Both teams lost unfortunately, however they did manage to score a number of times and put up a great fight. They were not phased or put off and carried on working hard in true St Mary's fashion. These games were great experience for the pupils and will stand them in good stead for future matches and years!
Next match Wednesday 15th May V Delph @ home.
Many thanks to all parents who helped transport the children - it is very much appreciated and without this we would not be able to facilitate these matches.
