Sporting Success 2018-2019
Our sporting achievements!
Oldham Schools 'Gotta Dance' Competition - July 2019
This year our after school dance club have competed in and won the Oldham Schools 'Gotta Dance' Competition. This then meant they qualified for a place in the North West Finals. They came 4th and narrowly missed a place in the national finals as only the top 3 placed dances qualified. Under a new dance teacher and choreographer they then learned a brand new routine in only a few weeks and performed it at the Oldham Schools 'Celebration of Dance' event last Friday. On Wednesday evening they were invited to perform both routines at the Oldham 'Dance Splash' event at the Oldham Coliseum Theatre and were the only Primary School invited to dance alongside Dance Schools and Companies with dancers aged 8-18. We are incredibly proud of their achievements this year, well done!
Netball Report April - May 2019
Netball match V Denshaw Tuesday 30th April
Well done to both St Mary's Netball teams who displayed a brilliant performance against Denshaw winning both matches 7-2 and 6-3. All pupils worked extremely hard and managed to produce a confident performance with some excellent episodes of play.
Netball match V Knowsley Wednesday 1st May
All pupils who played in these matches should be so proud of their performance and sportsmanship. Both teams came up against two very strong and experienced teams who firstly were two years older than some of our team and secondly they play for Oldham Netball Club. Both teams lost unfortunately, however they did manage to score a number of times and put up a great fight. They were not phased or put off and carried on working hard in true St Mary's fashion. These games were great experience for the pupils and will stand them in good stead for future matches and years!
Next match Wednesday 15th May V Delph @ home.
Many thanks to all parents who helped transport the children - it is very much appreciated and without this we would not be able to facilitate these matches.
Cross Country - March 2019
Congratulations to all the st Mary’s children who took part in cross country on Saturday 30th March. We had some amazing individual performances ! The year 3/4 girls won overall out of all the cross country meets this year! Thank you to all pupils who have taken part this year. It takes a lot of determination and bravery. Big thanks to all parents / carers for facilitating the children’s attendance. It is very much appreciated.
Year 3 and 4 Lacrosse - March 2019
Huge congratulations to the Year 3/4 lacrosse team that played in the Tameside schools games qualifier as a guest team. They played against Year 5/6 pupils and they certainly gave the other schools a great match. Amazingly we came second in our group, which was a really commendable achievement especially given the boys ages! Congratulations boys.

St Marys versus St Thomas' Leesfield - November 2018
On Tuesday 13th November the year 5/6 football team played a friendly match against St Thomas' leesfield.
The boys played their hearts out and dominated the majority of the match. As time went on they displayed some excellent episodes of play and had some great shots and attempts, but just not quite on target. Unfortunately St Thomas' scored in the latter part of the game and the final score was 1-0 to them. To say the boys had not played together before they played amazingly! Well done lads.

The St Mary's cross country team did everyone proud at the first Oldham schools meet. We had some amazing results and all pupils did exceptionally well. We had two medals in the ¾ race for 1st and 3rd place which was amazing. There were 13 school in total at this meet so we did really well! Next race 13th October. Well done everyone!
