Sporting Success 2017-18

Our sporting achievements!

Netball - Double Win for St Mary's - 6th December 2017

Super proud of the netball team! They beat Hulme 17-9 and South Failsworth 7-3.

The girls played exceptionally well - the best they have ever played ! They were confident, made little mistakes, listened to instructions, fought for every ball and worked brilliantly as a team. It was like watching a different team!  Well done girls! Let's maintain this high level of effort and I'm sure we will have some more wins in the new year!

Girl's Football League Games - 5th December 2017

Well done to the girl's football team! They had two tough games as part of the Oldham Schools League and lost 2-0 to Diggle. Unfortunately it took us this game to get into the play. Even though they lost they put in some great runs and tackles. They beat Knowsley 1-0 with a much stronger performance than in the first game. Hopefully after Christmas we will have some more practices and secure some more wins. Well done girls !

Cross Country - Tuesday 7th November 2017

The children of St Mary's did us proud yet again in the Oldham Schools Cross Country Competition. This is separate to the Saturday morning league races and schools were limited even more, in terms of the amount of pupils who could enter. We had four teams in total: 3/4 girls, 3/4 boys, 5/6 girls and 5/6 boys. To say the conditions were bad is an understatement!  It was like a mud bath. So hard to walk in let alone run!  We had some amazing results yet again.

Netball - Thursday 19th October 2017

Well done to the St Mary's Netball Team who played their first two matches of the season. They lost 5-3 to Dobcross in a tightly fought match. Star player was Lucy Johnson for excellent positional play, shooting and all round impact. They beat St Chads 21-1.  Star player Holly Haynes for working hard on accurate passes and acting on coaching points. Holly also did some very good shooting.

All the girls played well. We have lots to work on, but overall an amazing start to the season!  The future looks bright for St Mary's Netball Team! Well done girls we are all very proud of you.
